Intel Invests in Green Packet for WiMAX Network in Malaysia

Intel has invested 50 million Ringgit (US$15.6 million; US$1=3.2 Ringgit) in Green Packet of Malaysia, and the two companies will collaborate on developing Malaysia's first nationwide WiMAX network, according to an Associated Press report on May 19.

Green Packet plans to roll out through its unit Packet One Networks Malaysia's first commercial WiMAX service on an 802.16e 2.3GHz WiMAX network by June 2008. It is reported that via the investment, Intel is entitled to a stake of up to 6.34% in Green Packet.
